关：圣诞节
圣诞节是基督教徒纪念耶稣基督诞生的日子,公认的日期是12月25日。 圣诞节指圣诞日 或圣诞节节期，即12月24日至第二年1月6日这段时间。另外人们把12月24日夜为圣诞前夜就是平时我们说的平安夜。
何：复活节Easter
复活节是西方国家隆重而又盛大的宗教节日。
染色的鸡蛋是复活节的标志。染色的蛋有一定的含义。黄色的表示庆祝春天的到来；红色的表示生活的欢乐。基督教徒将鸡蛋看作为“新生”的象征，用红色来表达耶稣复活的喜悦心情。兔子是复活节的又一标志。复活节的兔子有很多传说。一种说法是：古时候，复活节的日子是以月亮的盈亏决定的，而月槐树下的兔子与月亮是形影不离的，所以，古人用兔子作为复活节的象征。
关：感恩节 Thanksgiving Day
感恩节是美国民间传统节日。时间是每年11月的第四个星期四。感恩节的起源有一段有趣但很复杂的历史。1620年9月，102名英国清教徒乘坐“五月花”号木船从英格兰的普利茅斯出发，经过将近3个月的海上漂泊，于当年12月23 日来到美洲的'东南部的港口，并在附近意外地找到一个印地安人的村落，他们发现村内无人于是定居下来。但是当时是冬天，又人生地不熟，白手起家，缺衣少食，以及疾病的侵袭等原因，到第一个冬天结束时，活下来的只有50来人。但有幸的是，第二年的春天，这批幸存下来的移民得到了当地印地安人的热心帮助。善良的印地安人给他们种子，教他们打猎，教他们根据当地的气候特点种庄稼等。就这样，在印地安人的帮助下，再加上移民们的艰苦奋斗，终于迎来了1621年的大丰收。
为了感谢上帝赐予的大丰收，移民们在1621年的11月下旬的一个星期四，与邀请来的曾帮助过他们的印地安人一起举行了一个庆祝活动。他们在天亮时鸣放礼炮，举行宗教仪式，虔诚地向上帝表示感谢。然后他们用自己猎取的火鸡以及自己种的南瓜、红薯、玉米等做的美味佳肴，隆重庆祝上帝的赐予，这便是美国历史上的感恩节的开始。

愚人节是一个比较特殊的节日。时间是每年的4月1日按照西方国家的习俗，在愚人节这一天，人们可以任意说谎骗人，愚弄他人。骗人越高，越能得到推崇。在愚人节受到愚弄的人被称为 April Fool。按照他们的习惯，当一个人成功地使别人受到愚弄时，他就会笑着说April Fool ，这时受愚弄的人恍然大悟，也会跟着哈哈大笑。
关：母亲节
是英美等国家为了表达对母亲的敬意而设的一个节日。日期是每年的5月第二个星期日。
每逢母亲节，做儿女的会送给自己的母亲节日贺鲜花以及母亲们喜欢的精美礼物等，同时，在这一天父亲会领着子女们包揽家务，以便让母亲有个休息的机会。
何：父亲节
每年的6月的第三个星期日（the 3rd Sunday inJune）。

何：万圣节
10月31日夜是西方国家的万圣除夕。万圣除夕的前一星期，孩子们在家长的帮助下开始准备鬼怪面具和望而生畏的服饰。万圣除夕，小孩们身穿古怪的服装，头戴面具，装扮成鬼怪的形象，手里提着一盏南瓜灯，从一家走到另一家，在大门口大声叫着“是请客还是要我们捣乱。这时若主人不请客，这些顽皮的孩子就会动真格地捣乱。但人们对这些天真可爱的小客人一般还是欢迎的，并且事先都准备好糖果或零钱。听到这些小孩来到时，他们马上迎出来，给孩子们分发糖果或零钱

jakki: I think the issue is that the parents are using this to intrude upon their children’s lives, both in terms of hen their teenagers and so in school, but also as adults. Obviously they don’t live ith their parents anymore but their parents follo them on WeChat or on Weibo. And then they actively comment and maybe get in touch directly like you kno you post something at midnight then your parents call you and said “Why are you still up!” I think that’s the biggest problem. And I think as a parent you have to be very very careful because that is damaging to the relationship ith your children. Especially as they get older they have a greater sense of autonomy. One of the reasons they moved out of the house is because don’t ant you telling them hat time to go to bed. And so I think on the one hand it’s important for parents to be involved in their children’s lives and more and more e’re seeing that are lives are happening more and more online. And so as a parent if I ant to involve in my child’s life as much as possible, part of that is going to be involved their life online. But like I said there’s that very very fine line, difficult for many parents I imagine, you kno hen do you say something and hen do you not.
